About Beccy
I’m a human- and service-centred product designer with a generalist past. Trained in industrial design, I've gone on to practice a wide range of design disciplines and fields; CBT health apps, cyber security data visualizations, installations, multi-product design systems, and even toys.
Over the years I’ve become drawn to the psychological side of user experience, as well as the messy, unexpected, wonderful real life that products are wrapped in. I'm fascinated by the interactions between the product, the broader service, and the context of users' lives. Balancing these elements is the "secret sauce" that allows me to spot the deeper problems - a pattern you may notice throughout my work, and one which has gained me recognition in my past teams.
I'm very interested in community and urban loneliness, and have explored this in my personal project Therd Community App, as well as my current project which is building a community-focused event listing web app for Ottawa and exploring the potential for AI no-code tools in service design - case study coming soon!
When I'm not designing I'm playing piano or fiddle, creating, travelling, petsitting in my favourite city Montreal, or playing indie video games. Currently playing: Esoteric Ebb.
